Also, a new painting produced this month (June 2014) is entitled: Unlocked.  This painting, using gouache and acrylic paints, is rendered on a 40cm x 40cm prepared cotton canvas.  The locks are locked but the interpretative portrayal of them is unlocked. The juxtaposition of the two depictions is intended to be dramatic and intriguing.

In the enlargement, notice the horizontal keys motif within the surface of the orange material that supports the red hook. The screws fixing the hook to the orange material  are simply depicted by applying sgraffito, the scratched-paint technique, into the red paint while it is wet. Revealing the white of the canvas as a white circular line with white cross bars in this way suggests to the viewer that two screws exist there.
